A special night happened for D1NZ and motorsport in 2024 with Christchurch City Council announcing the world's first competition drift car that will be completely hydrogen-powered.
D1NZ partnering with Fabrum and alongside our long-time series sponsor Link ECU the wheels are in motion for the Toyota A90 Supra.
Development on engine and safety is well underway with the chosen engine a 6Port B58 Toyota engine.
The car is currently at Link ECU Headquarters with the goal of debut in 2025 at D1NZ with a global special guest driver.
Stay tuned for more on this exciting project that will be revealed soon.

CASE STUDIES - THE GLOBAL RACE
Race for the Planet – NZ at the Forefront of Motorsport Innovation:
There is a global movement underway, driven by the FIA and Extreme E, which are transitioning into a hydrogen-powered series, Formula H could be a thing of the future and Extreme H will launch in 2025, respectively. These series are part of a larger “Race for the Planet” initiative, aiming to revolutionize motorsport sustainability. However, there’s a critical gap in the market: while these elite competitions make headlines, there is currently no turnkey hydrogen solution for the thousands of other motorsport series across the globe.
New Zealand now stands at the cusp of leading this innovation. We can position ourselves as pioneers in global technology delivery by developing and delivering hydrogen solutions tailored to a broader spectrum of motorsport disciplines. This is our chance to be at the forefront of a new era of motorsport sustainability.
